Among the book collection
of my Grandmother Horstman was a small volume containing color pictures and
written descriptions of various wild flowers. It was this book, Wild Flowers
at a Glance, that inspired most of the silk ribbon blooms, along with a few
of my personal favorites. The eight flowers and two foliage plants are perfect
for a multitude of silk ribbon embroidery projects. A spray of flowers could
adorn an album cover or the shoulder of a vest. A cascade of the same flowers
would look wonderful trailing down the lapels of a jacket, or as a garden
on the yoke of a denim jacket. You could create a bouquet with just one type
of flower. The possibilities are numerous. So, gather your silk ribbons and
needles. Indulge yourself with a fabulous garment or create a family heirloom.
Step by step instructions are included for each flower, along with color suggestions
selected from the YLI Hand Dyed silk ribbon palette. Each of the hand-dyed
colors were created for the individual flowers buy, you will find them perfect
for many of your favorite blooms. Also included are embroidery suggestions
for a wild flower garden and a floral spray. Let your imagination take flight
and your garden unfold.
Happy Stitching!
